Big House Changes

So we have bought a house (Jan 29), sold our house ( Feb 15) and will be moving (Apr 22) all in 3 months..  Yipee!

The new house!

My husband and I were quite surprised that the house we really wanted in the location we really wanted was out there.  It was really exciting purchasing the house.

Then we realized the real work began when we had to get our house sold.  It was a lot of de-cluttering and organizing, painting (not done by us) and carpet installing (also not done by us) and cleaning (some done by us, some hired out).  All done in 1week and 2 days.  We were on the market with an open house.  We ended up having a multiple bidding situation the night of the open house.  I thought that only happened on TV... but there we were living it.  4 offers to choose from... we were conditionally sold that night.  Very exciting!

Our cat, Pepper, did really well visiting grandma's house (we got her out of the way for painting,  the open house and for the inspection).  And she seems to not mind the car one bit.

Now we are looking forward to the move.
Ahhh... my dreams of a beautiful yarn retreat are coming true. :)

Nickel for your thoughts?

Any thoughts on what type of boarder I should do?  Or what colour I should use?  Should I stick with the colours that are in the blanket?  Or add others? Use the granny square pattern and just continue that way?  Or do some type of fancy boarder?
I have not done a boarder before... so if there are any tips/ideas out there for granny square blanket boarders I would love to hear them.

So far I have just done two rounds of single crochet in white.

When Matt of According To Matt, made his Glorious Granny Greatness!!!,  that was when I knew I wanted to someday be making a granny square blanket.
I hope mine turns out just as great!

Granny Square Blanket

Here are all the 49 squares that will make up the blanket.

The baby blanket is coming along very nicely.  It seems that when I started joining the squares they just flew together.

I could not work on this on the bus (I think) any blanket would be too big to bring out on a bus.  Everyone around me might want to snuggle in.  I should be done shortly.  I'll now have lots of end to weave in.  But that's nice busy work.

Soon it will be time to experiment with the boarder.

I even had time to whip up an IPod Touch cover made from two granny rectangles.  This, I was able to make on the bus.  :)

Just a few square left to attach... then onto the boarder.

Commitment Issues All Sorted Out

I have been making lots of granny squares with no real direction.  I just wanted to get better at the Granny Square.  I am using this beautiful sport weight yarn that I bought from a tent sale at my local yarn store.  Pink, Purple and White.

I have a friend due in May so I have decided to make a baby blanket for her.  I found a nice pattern to make the granny squares from the Bernat website.  #411 Bernat Softee Baby Double Diamond Crochet Blanket.  I am going to change up the location of colours in the blanket because I want to make it bigger than this pattern and pink will be my main colour.
17 Pink squares, 16 Purple squares, 16 White squares.

Pictures of more squares to follow soon.
The blanket is 49 squares.
Then I am going to add a border.
